King George V authorised the issue of the Memorial Plaque to commemorate members of the British and Commonwealth forces who died as a result of the conflict

This is the 2nd type MBE awarded from 1936 and is awarded to the present date

The rim of the medal is slightly convex - this also indicates that it is a cast medal & not a die-struck medal

The medal was instituted to obviate the need for an exchange of medals between the allies

Officers and other ranks of the United Kingdom Land Forces who had 14 days or more continuous service in the operational area and were on the posted or attached strength of any unit serving in the South Arabian Federation

The clasp has a small hole in each corner for sewing onto the ribbon
