Andorite
Description
AndoriteFrom the amazing find in November 2004. Andorite is lead, silver, antimony sulfosalt and was named for the Hungarian mineral collector Andor von Semsey (1833 1923), who holds a remarkable distinction for having two mineral species named after him (Andorite and Semseyite). I personally acquired the entire lot of ALL the top crystals that came into the U. S. in late 2004 through early 2005, of which many experts considered to be such a significant find,
Several classic
black cyclic twinned crystals which are associated with unique prismatic Quartz crystals containing rarely seen small Smoky Quartz phantoms
so if you're a collector of Bolivian minerals
This piece is from the type locality for this material which was discovered along the Contacto and San Jose veins in this mine and was first described by Sam Gordon and Mark Bandy
which I consider to be trivial
Specimen # BOL711B82
It is incredibly rare to have FIVE individual phosphate species all on one specimen
the piece is overgrown by many small
It’s amazing to me that you can see all sides of the “cogwheel” as it’s not buried into the Pyrite matrix
This specimen has fine
metallic grey color bladed crystals
This mine is still active today and bears the unique distinction of producing the only GEM quality (facet grade) Cassiterites from any mine in Bolivia Considering the millions of tons of tin ore that Bolivia has yielded
