Bournonite
Description
BournoniteA group of very well formed, sharp, semi lustrous, soft metallic grey colored tabular blades of Bournonite are intergrown to create this eye catching display specimen. The crystals are virtually damage free, save for two very small contacts on respective edges of the piece. For an added touch, the crystals are associated with micro grey Quartz. Great quality and rather aesthetic for the material. From a find in June of 2007. Specimen # BOL711B30
The piece truly looks better in person as Ferberite is a difficult species to accurately photograph
The area around Cerro Huanaquino is best known for its excellent Magnetite specimens
and ALL of them
The presence of the Smoky Quartz phantoms and sheer three-dimensional appeal
golden metallic Pyrite matrix
There are also a few classic “bent” crystals on the piece as well
and you would be hard pressed to find better color Vauxite anywhere
In 2009 some very impressive and attractive specimens of Scorzalite were found at the Estano Orcko mine in Bolivia
These were the first Barites that I personally ever acquired from Bolivia
and a worthwhile “hand”-sized display specimen of this classic material
but has since been discredited
and very rarely have I seen Quartz crystals with these specimens
