I wrap the houses with vinyl and apply a clear laminate. This birdhouse is wrapped on 3 sides, for mounting on a tree or fence. (the back is exterior MDF unfinished) You have the option to have this as a hanging birdhouse, wrapped on all 4 sides. It can also be mounted on a pole. Please specify when ordering
